Muse Headband

See the effects of your meditation in real time with the help of a Muse headband. Muse is a research-grade EEG device that passively senses your brain activity and translates it into the guiding sounds of weather to help you stay calm & focused.

A fun and interesting addition to your session, your guide may bring a Muse device as an option to help you learn how to meditate effectively.

Sessions

Each mindful hiking session lasts between 1 and 2 hours. Pickup and drop-off is available between the Comox Valley and Campbell River regional districts. Hiking routes vary in length and difficulty according to the client’s abilities, from simple and relaxing inner-city trail nature routes to inspiring wilderness hikes. Routes are located primarily within the Comox Valley region. No previous hiking experience is necessary. Our guides are friendly and professional.

Every hike include mindfulness lessons, gentle yoga or stretching, breathing exercises, and basic meditation. Walking speed is slow. During a hike, we may hold conversation which is relaxed and easy, with the intention of continually re-focusing our awareness on the present moment. You may pause several times to focus on nature – the sounds, smells, colours, and feelings of the living world surrounding us. Our clients look forward to the slow pace and mindful nature of our hiking sessions.

Your guide will provide coaching on methods by which to implement mindfulness in your daily life or during moments of stress, anxiety, and depression. Our annual curriculum topics include mindfulness meditation, increasing resiliency, managing anxiety and depression, social-emotional learning, and impulse control.

Safety & Comfort

Your safety and comfort are our utmost priority. All hikes take place in areas with continual phone service. Wildlife defense systems are carried by your guide. Your guide has up-to-date First Aid certification and will carry any required safety gear and yoga mat, chair, or cushion. Clients are asked to bring lightweight walking shoes, water bottle, appropriate clothing, windbreaker or rain coat, hat, and sunscreen.
